The Red Belly Piranha

Most people will have the idea that piranhas are carnivorous animals, due to their flesh easting habits. However, piranhas are actually omnivorous animals that also feeds on aquatic plants.

Piranhas are generally 30 cm long but some can be as huge as 80cm. Piranhas are hunted by river dolphins, crocodiles, turtles and even humans.

Piranhas, however, are not as deadly as we think. In fact, it usually swims by itself and feeds on animals or plants that fall into the water. However, when they are in swarms, hungry and blood-thirsty, you might not want to go into the water.

Conservation status: Least concern.
